To compliment our inventory and assessment services, EBB utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to analyze the spatial distribution of ecological communities, land use, wildlife, species at risk and other natural resources. GIS is an indispensable resource and vital to biological inventories, resource assessments and land use planning. EBB maintains its GIS software current, utilizing ESRI’s desktop software, ArcGIS 9.3.
Data analyzed using GIS is collected in the field using the global positioning system, GPS, which allows for ease of integration into the GIS software and permits multi-layered maps to be produced based on the goals and objectives of the project.
EBB standardizes its mapping to the North American Datum (NAD 83) and the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection. Maps are produced both digitally and in hard copy to various dimensions and are produced to the clients specifications.
